In a Primary Care Network, a group of family doctors works with Alberta Health Services and other health professionals to coordinate the delivery of primary health services for their patients.

Physician-led collaborative care teams assist with patient care 
Like many of his colleagues, Dr. Phillip van der Merwe believes that teamwork improves patient care and hence is a major proponent of collaborative care teams (CCTs) within the Calgary West Central PCN. The teams assist immensely in providing appropriate access at the right time resulting in improved experiences and health outcomes for patients. Learn more.

PCI Spring 2013 Forum Review
April 2, 2013
Close to 200 participants from PCNs, partner organizations and other primary care stakeholders attended the PCI Spring 2013 Forum. The Forum, which was held March 19 and 20, at the Edmonton Marriott at River Cree, focused on the important themes of Innovation, Team Building and Patient Engagement. Speakers provided information and lead discussions on practical applications relating to the conference themes. Reviews on current primary care activities from stakeholder organizations and an update from the Minister of Health rounded out the event.
